The spectators in the gallery were treated to some fine entertainment today as the finalists of this year's tournament battled it out on court. The main event saw last year's defending Sydenham champion Tats Manase come up against Louise Clarke. What a good final it was ...Tats became a worthy champion again after a very determined challenge from Louise. The first two games were evenly matched ...Tats taking the first game and Louise hitting back and taking the second. The pivotal moments in this match probably came in the third game when Louise had battled to a 10-8 lead and was a point away from taking a 2-1 lead. But Tats dug in and took the game 14-12.. In the fourth game Tats sealed his third Sydenham title as Louise tired. t the end ,both players fully deserved all their applauds from the gallery after a great game. The final of the Plate competition provided another very even and closely contested match . Dale Rimmington and John Rowe put on a superb display and the advantage in this match swung one way and then the other before Dale managed to gain the upper hand in the closing stages of the fifth game. In the Best of the Rest final Lisa Hogben came up against wily veteran Peter Lewis and she put on a committed display to overcome Peter and earn a deserved victory. A final word to say congratulations to the winners and finalists and also to say thanks to Harry Cole for organising the competition .
