Hi All
As thoughts turn to a hard Winter of playing, I wanted to put out a plea to members.
Although I was appointed as Club Manager in April 2016, the Club still has a strong volunteer support infrastructure which helps to frame the development of the Club.
The Squash/Racketball section committee, chaired by Pete Edwards, has gradually depleted over the last couple of years, particularly with members moving away. The committee meets a couple of times a year to discuss the leagues, membership, coaching, the squash court building, etc.
The Board of Directors has overall responsibility for the management of the Club. The current structure comprises seven officers, and should include representatives for each of the playing sections. There has been no Squash/Racketball Director for almost a year now!
By joining both or either of the above you will have the opportunity to put forward the opinions of the section to ensure an integrated approach to Club development, that accounts for all the membership.
The installation of the new heating system in the Squash courts in early 2017 came from the Squash/Racketball committee, and was agreed by the Board, so you can see that important decisions are made through these processes.
Recently, you will have been aware of issues with the court lighting. Unfortunately, due to the age of the fittings, it is proving difficult to replace the current lighting. Therefore, alternatives may need to be considered and recommendations put forward.
There are two other current matters that also require attention, and would benefit from Squash/Racketball representation. The Club Business Plan is under review for the period 2019-2024, and the Squash building has some structural problems that need to be addressed.
Please feel free to have a chat with me if you are interested in having a role in the continuing success and growth of your Club.
