Racketball Tournament : Reminder

There are just three weeks to go until the end of the league stage of the 2018 racketball tournament. Please try to get the rest of your matches in before the league stage ends on Saturday 10 March and make sure that you enter your points by 11 PM on that day. (The league will remain visible on the website until it is replaced by the first post tournament league but points entered after the deadline will not be counted.)

Several players have already ammassed enough points to ensure that the will end up in one of the top four places in their box and will therefore be eligible for the finals but there is still a lot to play for. Seedings for the finals will be based on final positions in the two boxes. These can have an important effect on who makes it to the grand finals, because in the semi finals seed 1 plays seed 4 and seed 2 plays seed 3. Also, for players who fail to end in the top four of their box, their chance of getting a "wild card" entry into the finals depends on their final box position. "Wild card" entry is offered if one (or more) of the top four players in each box is, for one reason or another, not avaiable to play in the finals, which, as announced in the notice of 1 janaury, will be held on the afternoon of Sunday 18 March, starting at 2 pm. "Wild card" entry will be offered first to the player(s) who come fifth in their box and, if they aren't available, to the player(s) who come sixth and so on.

The postions at the end of the league will also determine the boxes for the league that will follow the tournament. Unless there is a mass exodus of players at the end of the tournament, the next league will have three boxes. As usual, I will, by default, enter into the next league everyone who has played at least one match in the current league. I should be grateful if anyone who does NOT want to be included in the next league would let me know.
