This is a reminder that the final date for entry into the 2019 racketball handicap tournament is in four days time, Christmas day.
Based on the numbers who have registered for the tournament so far, it looks as though we will have a single tournament, as in 2016 and 2017, not a two division tournament as last year but there will be a definite decision on this once the final date for entries has passed and the final number of competitors is known. In this connection, I note that the Government, whilst still insisting that it expects the Brexit deal to be ratified, has warned that businesses should now activate their preparations for a possible no deal Brexit. If there is anyone who has registered for the tournament but, in the light of this announcement, now fears that they won't have time to take part in it, I should be grateful if he would let me know as soon as possible.
After 25 December, although it will no longer be possible to join the tournament, it will still be possible to register for inclusion in the non tournament box, which will be available (if sufficient members register for it) to any member whose work or other commitments preclude him from committing to play all his matches in the tournament but who still wants to opportunity to play some league matches in the early part of next year. I will use the results of the non tournament box as well as those in the tournament box to determine who goes into which box in the normal league which I will set up after the tournament finals.
